Albufeira Town Council to Invest €4 Million in Social Housing

5 February 2021

The Albufeira Town Council has announced that it will invest four million euros in the construction of 40 social housing flats in Paderne, a parish in the municipality’s interior, in the district of Faro. According to the city, the housing complex will consist of five buildings, a total of 40 flats, gardens, two playgrounds and 48 parking spaces.

According to José Carlos Rolo, the mayor of Albufeira, it is “increasingly difficult to rent a house at prices compatible with a family’s income [in the municipality]”, a situation worsened by the “particularly challenging time” the country is going through.

The municipality also plans to build a further 70 flats in Fontainhas, in the parish of Ferreiras, two blocks with 28 apartments in Rua Samora Barros and 26 flats next to the Caliços Municipal Market, in Albufeira.
