Construction Output Rose 2.1% in October

As construction output rose by 2.1%, employment and wages increased by 1.6% and 6.0%, respectively.

According to the Production, Employment and Wages in Construction Index, presented today by the National Statistics Institute, the year-on-year growth in construction output held steady at 2.1% in October, the same as the previous month.

In an analysis by sector, the INE found that building construction grew by 1.1% (0.3% in September), as civil engineering decelerated by 1.3 percentage points (p.p.) to 3.5%.

Employment and compensation showed year-on-year changes of 1.6% and 6.0%, respectively (2.0% and 6.2% in the previous month). Compared with September, employment decreased by 0.4%, while compensation increased by 1.1% (nil change and 1.3% in October 2020, respectively).
